NEW Price Decrease on Musicians Ear Plugs

December 19, 2010

We are happy to announce a decrease in the price of our custom-fit musicians ear-plugs.

In an effort to continue to offer our clients the best “bang for their buck” we have made arrangements with our lab so that we are able to offer our Musicians Ear-Plugs for $30 less than ever before (now $115.00 down from our previous $145.00).

This is not a short term price change, or year-end special. Oh no, this is a permanent change for the foreseeable future. So, if you are in the market for some flat response plugs, now is the time to make the move.

New Fidelity Quads Now Available

November 15, 2010

Our latest release is the culmination of nearly 3 years of research and development. The Fidelity Quad is a hyper-accurate, true 4-way earphone. This new earpiece is equally happy operating at low or high volumes. It also is more true to the source material than any other earpiece in the Fidelity line.

Many hours have been spent on crossover and porting design to improve phase and arrival time issues. We are extremely proud of this new addition to the Fidelity family. Its silky smooth response is sure to amaze even the most discerning of ears. Although designed for live performance, the quads will feel equally at home in the studio.

Here’s what one of our Beta testers had to say about the Quad:  “I have found that the quads really bring the material to life. … I felt like everything not only had a fullness, but also a brightness that made it really fun to listen to.”

Smooth, Dynamic, Exciting…The Fidelity Quad!

Tan Cables Discontinued

November 10, 2010

Due to slow sales it is necessary for us to discontinue offering the “Tan” colored cable as an option for Fidelity Custom Earphones. Due to minimum purchase requirements, it no longer makes sense for us to ffer this cable color. We hope that everyone understands our dilemma. If we have the oportunity to bring it back at a later date we fully plan to do so.

Importance of Making a Good Impression

August 29, 2010

Fit and comfort are extremely important with Fidelity Custom Earphones.  Whether you’re  performing, rehearsals, or listening to your iPod, you will likely be using them for several hours each day.   A proper fit is also responsible for keeping sweat from making its way up the ear canal.

Good Impressions

Good Impressions

A poor fitting IEM can lead to discomfort, a tendency to fall out of the ear, and poor sound quality as sound leaks around the non-perfect seal. This could result in other negative consequences, such as the volume setting and mix being compromised to adjust for the poor sound quality, inadequate hearing protection due to the poor seal.

With custom IEMs, a good fit is a primarily the result of a good, deep ear impression.

First, we request that the audiologist use a 2” bite block to keep the mouth open while the impression material sets. This is because jaw movement slightly alters the shape of the ear canal. With Fidelity’s, you need to maintain a good seal when your jaw moves into a wide-open position while singing or speaking.  Second, we request that the audiologist use a silicone based material.  This material important because it maintains the true shape of the ear and allows us to make a more accurate earpiece.   Third, it is also important to have the impressions taken as deeply as comfort allows, preferably just past the second bend in the ear canal. This increases the hearing protection of the Fidelity’s by adding mass between the external stage volume and the eardrum.

Note the Bite Block

Note the Bite Block

Last, we require the entire outer ear.  It is very important that the audiologist overfill the area between the tragus and helix area completely filling in the anti-helix area.  This area behind the anti-helix (flap at the top of your ear) is important because this is where the Fidelity Custom Earphones lock into place, assuring that the seal is secure and the earpieces don’t move.

Because the deterioration of the ear impressions due to the dirt and earwax on them, it is important to have new ear impressions made every couple of years.

Please remember, that making ear impressions is very important for the proper seal of the Fidelity’s.   At any time should an audiologist have any questions, please have them feel free to call our office and speak to one of us about the proper way we need the impressions to secure a proper and great fit.

NEW Fidelity 2×3’s Now Available!

June 1, 2010

This new earpiece brings the highest capable volume of any earpiece we have released to date. Our first triple-bore (one port for each driver) ear-piece combines a 2 way crossover with 3 drivers (2 lows and 1 high), Hence 2 X 3, to create a loud and very dynamic sound signature. Extensive lows and accurate highs work together to create a very immersing earphone.

Loud and smooth was our goal, and that’s what we’ve got for you. We created a new crossover network and coupled it to 2 custom filtered low frequency drivers and one high frequency driver to attain a sound unlike anything else in our product line. We were able to achieve incredible volumes before distortion all across the spectrum.

“The signature is warm and meaty but not overly thick. It has a nice “quickness”, beautiful transients, and flatters drum sounds. It is worth noting that in one listening session I had the prototypes in my ears for over four hours, listening to every imaginable genre at different volume levels, and my ears never felt fatigued.” says one of our Beta testers.

“These earpieces are much more natural sounding to me than most other earpieces I’ve had… They seem to have a very accurate representation of what is being put through them.” says another.

So if you are looking for a new earpiece, and you want something that will be both loud and still maintain a smooth response. We would love for you to try a set of Fidelity 2 X 3’s.

US Retail Price: $319.00 plus shipping and TN State Sales Tax.

A Weekend in Houston

March 30, 2010

Catherine and I had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful city of Houston, TX this past weekend to stop by a couple of churches for impression visits.

We left on Friday afternoon and flew into Houston to be ready for our visits on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we returned to Woodsedge Community Church in Spring, TX and did more impressions for musicians that are involved with “The David Project“. We have been to visit Woodsedge 2 or 3 times a year since 2007. We want to thank Leann Francis, Greg Johnson and Woodsedge for their continued support of Fidelity Custom Earphones.  We would also like to thank Jonathan Rennie with New Haven and David Hogan with Spring First for introducing us to some wonderful people.  We had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone.

Sunday morning was spent with the wonderful music department of Champion Forest Baptist Church. This was our first visit to Champion Forest, and we hope to make future visits. Thanks to Jonathan Inabnit, Matt Rhodes and everyone else at Champion Forest for their hospitality and a wonderful Palm Sunday Service.

Remember folks, if you have a group of people interested in Fidelity Custom Earphones, contact Catherine and ask her about the requirements for us to visit your organization for an impression session. We would love to come and visit you.
