FAQ

  1. How do I order custom earphones?

Ordering custom earphones is easy. Visit a hearing care professional (audiologist) and have them take your ear impressions. Send us the ear impressions along with the completed information form. You can either enclose a check or make payment online. We will send you your completed IEM’s within three weeks. Or if you are in the Nashville area you can stop by our office for everything you need.

  2. Do musicians earplugs work for anyone or just musicians?

Definitely! We recommend the 15 dB filters. Now you can safely go to concerts, races or any event for years to come and hear all of it safely

  3. How can I get the best seal, fit and comfort for my IEM’s?

The original impression of your ear has the greatest impact on the final fit of your earpiece. Occasionally, modification of the earpiece and perhaps even a second impression for a remake is needed. When having your ear impressions taken at an Audiologist, please make sure that they follow the instructions (2nd page of the information sheet). Should they have any questions, please ask them to contact us. Ear-Gel (available in our products section) can aid in both insertion of the earpiece and retaining a good acoustic seal. How long does it take to get custom earpieces made? Once your ear impressions and payment has been received, you can generally expect a turnaround time of approximately three weeks on the finished earpieces. Rush service is also available upon request (additional charges will apply).

  4. What is the best way to control moisture in my earphones?

The typical ear canal is a warm, humid environment. Add a little perspiration and the result is a lot of water vapor floating around inside the earphones. When the ambient air temperature changes, that water vapor condenses onto the sensitive microelectronics. Condensation is an "equal opportunity" culprit, affecting users from coast to coast. Warning signs may range from sound distortion, intermittency, and fuzziness to total instrument failure. This can lead to costly downtime and expensive repairs. We suggest a Desiccant Pillow to assist you with moisture control and help keep wax build up to a minimum. Place your IEM’s into their waterproof Pelican case and insert the desiccant pillow. Seal the case immediately. The desiccant pillow will remove moisture from air within the case and help protect your IEM’s from moisture corruption.

  5. Do my Fidelity Custom Earphones come with a case?

Each Set of Fidelity Custom Earphones comes in a sturdy Pelican 1010 case. The pelican cases provide great protection because they are water and dust proof, and also have a lifetime warranty.

  6. What are Fidelity Custom Earphones made of?

Fidelity Custom Earphones are made of UV Acrylic.

  7. Who should order the 64” cable?

Since drummers and keyboard players tend to “plug-in” off to the side, we recommend the longer cable to allow them more freedom to move.

  8. What is the difference between the duals and triples?

By adding the third driver, we are able to break the signal down another step. This allows each driver to operate more efficiently in its specific band. Richer lows, more accurate mids and the same highs that we are famous for, is what you'll get from the Fidelity Triples.

  9. What is the 50ohm resistor cable for?

The optional 50ohm resistor cable is used to compensate for lower quality headphone amplifiers that are common in many of the older MP3 players as well as for use on airplanes with built in sound systems. The cable lowers the overall sensitivity of the earpieces, which lowers the hissing noise that you may hear in these lesser amplifiers.

  10. How do I clean my IEM’s?

With each set of Fidelity Custom Earphones, you receive a cleaning tool to help you to clean out the ports of the earpieces. To clean the outside, we recommend using Anti-bacterial wipes.

  11. How do I know I'm listening safely? What about tinnitus (ringing of the ears)?

Fidelity Custom Earphones were created by audiologically sound principles and may prevent noise induced hearing loss by enhancing signal-to-noise ratios for the everyday, active user. Only the music is amplified, not the “noise”. The exceptional sound quality and comfortable fit are integral to our design.

  12. What colors are available (Shells and Faceplates)?

Faceplate colors: tan, red, blue, white, black, clear, dark brown, pink and purple.
Shell colors: blue(left) red(right), blue, clear, red, tan, dark brown, pink and purple.

  13. Will I feel too isolated?

  16. What are the advantages of Fidelity Custom Earphones over most universal fit in-ear monitors?

Comfort, acoustic isolation, greater frequency response and, cost.

  17. Why do Fidelity Custom Earphones sound so incredible?

Most in-ear headphones use a “collector” or “chamber” to collect the frequency bands, combine them and then channel them into your ears. These collectors create time alignment and phase coherency problems with the audio. Fidelity Custom Earphones sound mix chamber is your ears. Your brain assembles the sound for you, in time and phase coherently, like it has done for you since birth.
