In ear monitoring systems have become a standard for touring musicians as of late. Many of the smaller productions are using a small rack that houses the IEM transmitters signal processing and a rack mount mixer. The microphones and instrument signals from the stage need to be split to feed both the monitors and the FOH main sound system. The ear splitter was developed to fit perfectly into this type of system. Utilizing only 2 rack spaces (2U) the ear splitter is small but still handles the signal splitting effectively.
