Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot?

One of the biggest enemies to the drivers in your Fidelity Custom Earphones is moisture. In the summer time, we have to consider sweat as a major concern to protecting your investment. So we are going to discuss a couple of ways to help you protect your Fidelity Customs from sweat.
Sweat can damage your earpieces in 2 ways. The first and most obvious is that it can physically foul the mechanisms inside the driver. If moisture gets inside the driver via the porting tubes, it can physically stop the driver from functioning properly.
The second is maybe less obvious, but still just as much, if not more, of a problem. If the moisture is sweat, the salts and soils in the sweat can cause the internal mechanisms to become tarnished and non-functioning. When sweat comes in contact with the tiny moving parts inside a balanced armature, there is little chance that the outcome is not going to be damaging.
Here are a couple of ways to protect your earpieces from the damaging effects of sweat.
  • earpiece11. Be very careful not to allow sweat, or any type of moisture for that matter, to run back into the canal tubing. When you remove your earpieces from your ears be sure to lay them in the carrying case with the tubes down so any sweat that has collected on them will run off and not into the canal tubing.
  • earpiece22. Purchase a dessicant pack for your case. A dessicant pack contains a silica gel that attracts and collects moisture. This will aid in the drying process and keep the moisture from reaching the drivers.
